Night candle oil contains a cis-linolenic acid which is indispensable for the body, which then converts it into the gamma-linolenic acid and requires the formation of the prostaglandins. The body can not form the cis-linolenic acid itself, it is to be added with the food. The prostaglandins participate in most body procedures that decide about health. They activate metabolism, dilate the blood vessels, lower blood pressure, prevent the clumping of blood platelets, reduce the formation of harmful LDL cholesterol and protect against arterial calcification. They activate the white blood platelets, strengthen the defenses and prevent liver damage. The prostaglandins also alleviate the painful inflammation of the joints of different causes, as well as the complaints of the premenstrual syndrome in women, which manifest themselves as irritability, tension in the breasts, metabolic disturbances. The lack of prostaglandins first manifests itself on the skin, which dries out, becomes sensitive and itchy. In some people, the enzyme, which converts the cis-linolenic acid to gamma-linolenic acid, and as a consequence of a skin disease with scaling and redness, lacks the neurodermatitis. Because the evening primrose oil also contains up to 14% of the gamma-linolenic acid, which does not need any conversion, it slows down significantly the neurodermatitis symptoms. The oil provides the skin with moisture and inhibits typical neurodermatitis signs, as well as remedy for reddened skin, itching and flaking, leaving each skin smoother and smoother. The holistic effect of the night candle oil corresponds to the teachings of Tibetan medicine, which considers the body as a unity and strengthens on all levels.
